General Contractor - Commercial, Retail & Restaurant Construction

Job Summary

The General Contractor is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of construction projects from start to finish. They will work closely with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Construction:

  • Review project plans and specifications, identify potential issues, and propose solutions.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals.
  • Negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Obtain necessary permits and licenses.

Construction:

  • Schedule and coordinate all construction activities.
  • Oversee the work of subcontractors and ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Manage project budgets and track expenses.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to schedules.
  • Address any unexpected challenges or delays.
  • Maintain a safe and organized worksite.

Post-Construction:

  • Conduct final inspections and obtain necessary certifications.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Facilitate project handover and closeout documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a General Contractor in commercial, retail, and restaurant construction.
  • Strong understanding of construction practices, techniques, and materials.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Nashville, TN.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification in construction management (e.g., PMP, LEED AP).
  • Established relationships with subcontractors and vendors in the Nashville area.
  • Experience with sustainable and green building practices.

Additional Information:

  • This position requires frequent travel to construction sites throughout the Nashville area.
  • The General Contractor must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
